Rain days

Today is a rainy day in Twenty-Nine Palms CA. In the workshop I have one stool, one small table and two cutting boards that need to be finished. But I will not work on them today, this will be a practice in self regulation and taking breaks. At least taking breaks from the woodworking side of things.

Instead I will think about actionable ways I can support my community. Community minding projects are so important at this time in the world. I wonder if tool share, skill share, craft spaces would be helpful in a place like Morongo Basin. I think it would be helpful. Not only would it give people resources to tackle their personal projects and empower self reliance. I believe it could decrease the disposable mindset. “Fix it, don't throw it away”. We all see it out here, the discarded trash and appliances off the dirt roads that we call home. I don't think people want to discard their trash off the side of the road. Maybe a community minded building a repair space would be helpful to relieve this waste. To give people resources in how to properly/responsibly dispose of waste.

I would love to someday have a workshop I can call my own, I don't see why  that can't be a community space and resource as well.
